Located in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle, our house is an older eight-bedroom home with blackberry bushes, chickens, and a small garden in the yard. We have easy access to the extensive Seattle bus system, and are within walking distance of many restaurants, shops, and parks.
The Seattle MVS Unit has been located on Capitol Hill since the early 70's. In 1976 the current unit house was purchased. Over the past 40+ years we have seen the neighborhood change. When MVS first located on the Hill it was a low income area, and this neighborhood was chosen because there were many people to serve. The cheap rents also drew the gay community and artist, and the neighborhood became a safe haven for the LGBTQ community and eccentrics alike. For decades it has been a hip, desirable, and somewhat affordable place to live, but in the past few years rapid redevelopment has brought many rich tech-workers to the neighborhood, and long time residence such as the LGBTQ Community, artist, and medium-income workers are being forced out.
